Who I am
My name is Paulo Fernando de Almeida Souza, Paulo Souza, professor and designer, PhD in Design and Architecture by the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Msc in Sustainable Development by the University of Brasilia (UnB), in Brazil. Post-doc in Design at University of Aveiro, Portugal.
I got my Bachelor’s degree in graphic design at the University of the State of Bahia (UNEB), specializing subsequently in Eco-oriented Product Design, at the Carl Duisberg Society (CDG), in Germany. I was partner-founder of the Aquatro Design Studio, in Salvador, from 1993 to 1998, where I coordinated graphic design, packaging and product design projects. After that, in 1999, I had a training period as product designer at The Hessen Design Center (DZH), in Darmstadt, Germany. From 1996 to 2008, I worked as professor for Design Projects Methodology, Production and Graphic Analyses, Product Ergonomics and Informative Ergonomics at UNEB, in Salvador, Brazil. Nowadays I am professor for design at Federal University of Bahia. In the academic field, I develop researches on Sustainability and Social Responsibility Indicators associated to the work of designers. I am founder and scientific editor of the Brazilian Journal Design em Foco.
What I do
I develop projects and solve problems related to design, particularly design for social innovation and sustainable design. My professional portfolio covers design projects that attend the needs of enterprises of different sizes and scopes, working as consultant or within a design team.
How I can help
I develop design solutions covering social innovation, optimizing material and energy flows, according to sustainability and social responsibility concepts focusing on the improvement of communities social and environmental enhance.
